My educational goals would be to finish my collegiate career with no more injuries or illness and to be able to graduate with my BSN and be certified to take the NCLEX exam after graduation.
I received a severe concussion during the course of my collegiate field hockey game October 6, 2015. I was struck in the head twice within the same game. My athletic trainers stated that they have never had a more serious concussion at my college although I had not lost consciousness. This concussion lasted for 6 months. I was out of all classes for about one month and had to use the disability center on campus for assistance when trying to finish the semester. I am a spanish minor and this concussion severely impacted my ability to retain the language as I had a more difficult time getting back into it. I suffered from double vision, balance issues, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, depression, no appetite, difficulty sleeping, memory loss, disorientation and many more.
